France secured a narrow 1-0 win over Austria on Monday night, with an own goal from an Austrian player in their final Euro 2024 football game.

France, one of the favourites, will be in the starting line-up with Kylian Mbappe fit to start in the attack. While Austria will be led by Konrad Laimer and Marcel Sabitzer.

In the 8th minute of the game, France had a chance when Adrien Rabiot passed to Kylian Mbappe who broke away on the right. Before choosing to shoot into the near post. But Austrian goalkeeper Patrick Pentz made a great save.UFABET

Austria also had a chance in the 36th minute. When Marcel Sabitzer passed the ball to Christoph Baumgartner who broke away to face Mike Maignan. But his shot seemed to be going down and he was forced wide.

However, two minutes later, France took the lead 1-0. Kylian Mbappe spread out to play on the right before moving to find an angle to cross into the middle. The ball hit Maximilian Wober’s head and changed direction into the goal. Which became an own goal for the Austrian player. 

In the second half, in the 55th minute.

France almost scored their second goal from a counterattack. When Kylian Mbappe used his speed to get past the Austrian players and break into the penalty area alone. However, his shot incredibly went wide of the post.

33 minutes, France had another chance. Ousmane Dembele passed the ball from the right wing to Jules Kounde who ran and pressed with his right foot in the penalty area, but it was blocked.

The French continued to fight. In the 73rd minute, they had another chance. N’Golo Kante passed the ball into the penalty area for Marcus Thuram to follow up and shoot from a tight angle with his right foot, but Patrick Pentz made a great save. 

There was a brief pause towards the end of the game when Christoph Baumgartner lunged at the ball and collided with Mike Maignan, injuring both players, but the game resumed with the former receiving a yellow card.

In the remaining time, France could not score any more goals, and there was an incident when Mbappe was injured after heading the ball but his face hit Kevin Danso’s shoulder, causing a nosebleed. After that, the game ended with France winning 1-0.
